Lolly Scott - Club member,

I’m Lolly and I have two collies; Holly’s from a rescue centre and I’ve had her for six years now; we think she’s about 7 or 8 years of age.  We spent all day going round rescue places only for me to decide on the first dog I’d seen.  Holly had been found wandering over the Christmas period, so hence I kept the name the centre had given her.  Bit of a mouthful for Tim, our trainer, at agility demo’s when he has to announce “this is Lolly with Holly the Collie” – usually he gets the names the wrong way round!  Holly’s been doing agility for just over 5 years and come home with plenty of clear round rosettes and placed clear rounds as well and I’ve been very proud of her.  Last year though I had to put her in Any Size Jumping as she was not happy jumping full height as she couldn’t do Elementary classes anymore, but she went round some of those courses with a “can’t be asked” attitude as they were too low; one time she jumped so high she didn’t set the timer off, so it was nice that she could do different heights at UKA shows which she enjoys.  We only do jumping now as contacts have gone out of the window especially the A-Frame and she will jump off whatever!!  Now that the KC jump heights have changed I will be trying her at these heights and see how she gets on, if she’s still not really bothered then I won’t push it, but there are times when she completely surprises me and has a lovely clear round.  She’s a pet first and foremost and she’ll still come to shows but have lots and lots of playing ball and chasing Frisbees which she just goes mad for and is a completely different dog.  She can be a toad at times but I love her and wouldn’t want her any other way.

My other dog is Tigger, a pedigree Border collie.  He came into my life through Tim and Michelle.  His mum is Waggerland Josie and his dad was Jazz (Lydeardlea the Jazz Singer at Shamorel) and was born 17 November 2002.  I felt very privileged as I went to the vets with Chel and saw Josie’s scan and when she went in for her Cesar, Tim and Chel came round to my house to wait, we all went to see the pups about an hour after they were born.  I liked one straight away; half a white ear and half a white tail and never changed my mind all the way through and I called him Tigger: he’s certainly grown into his name as he is soooo bouncy!! I’d never had a pup before as my other two dogs had been a year or 18 months when I got them so I had a very rude awakening with him!!  I was a bit worried about Holly and Tigger getting on, but as soon as he was in my house, they were friends.  He has complete drive for agility to a manic extent and have had to train him completely different to Holly.

It has been very very hard work and still is; I have been in tears many a time as Nice Dog Shame About The Handler but now at three years old he has changed and listens to me but if I make the tiniest wrong move he’s there but has done exactly what I have asked of him.  He entered his first competition beginning of the Summer 2004 in a Special Any Size jumping class and after a run-off against Tony Dickinson’s dogs came 6th!!  At Portland in the September he ran his first Elementary class and won out by coming 1st and to prove it wasn’t a fluke came 3rd in our Honiton show in the August.  We did a training course “up north” with Greg Derrett and Diane Talbot which I found hard work but both got a lot out of it, but that was were I realised how much work I would need to put in with him.  I do as much training as I can and worked really hard with his contacts which I am extremely pleased with especially the speed he goes over them and still stops at the bottom.  His Waits are still atrocious at shows and I now just hold him back and run for it and I’m less stressed out.  At home I am working on this, but won’t be attempting them at shows until he has a solid Wait.

In April of 2006, Tigger won out of Starters, leaving me completely gobsmacked as he was either five faults but fastest time, or e’d spectacularly nearly all of last year, and won it by three seconds.
So I am immensely proud of him, now the work really starts as I really have to get the right command at that precise right time which I’m finding hard.

Tigger is full of mischief but a very loving dog and loves to cuddle up on my lap on the settee (a sight lots of people are surprised at when they see him in his manic state at shows).  Holly will curl up by your side but Tigger has to lay completely over you; in the summer all you can hear is me saying get off as I’m trying to lay on the sunlounger and he has to be there too, not nice when you’re covered in suntan lotion and dog hairs.   The both of them are forever careering around and play fighting in the house and do wonder what the neighbours think.
Luckily all my neighbours think the world of Hols and Tigs and they’re always getting loads of fuss from them.
He truly is a gorgeous lad and in the last six months he has really changed so I feel that all the hard work is paying off now.

He has now been hip-scored 6:5 and eye tested against CEA and his results came back as Normal,
also the PRA eye test was normal too.

Tig is available at stud to health tested and approved BC / WSD bitches only

As Tigger is very flashy, he can only go out with solid colour girlies
