Margaret Sochon - Treasurer

Brynie, a collie cross,  was born on a North Devon farm and sold to her first owners as a working dog rather than a pet.
However after three months they felt they ‘couldn’t get on with her’ .
This isn’t too surprising –
I don’t think anyone who knows Brynie would regard her as a ‘working dog’!!

So she was passed on to her second owners who quite quickly took her to a re-homing centre because ‘they didn’t want a bitch’.
The day after she arrived at the kennels I telephoned them looking for a collie cross bitch – was it coincidence or was it fate??      A week later I signed the adoption papers and at only 8 months old she arrived at her third and last home, where she immediately made friends with Brandy, a collie/lab dog. That was three years ago and failure has turned into success  -  well,  I like to think in terms of success even if no-one else does!!

We started puppy socialisation classes together and then progressed to obedience. On the recommendation of our trainer we joined HDCS Agility classes as we felt it would help to build her confidence in a fun and active way.  We have entered a couple of competitions and take part in the HDCS displays. Having resumed obedience training, now on Monday evenings with HDCS,  we managed to get the Good Citizens Gold certificate last year.
Unfortunatley Brandy has now gone to rainbow bridge...

Meet Max.... Margaret's new addition, he came from the Blue Cross in Tiverton.
He has been hard work for Margaret, he acheived his Good citizens Gold award in July.

His agility is coming along, he lacks focus still at the moment, and likes to bark!
