Good Citizens 
'Hall Of Fame'

Honiton & District Canine Society First began obedience classes 35 years ago. Obedience classes are held at the Mackerness Hall in Honiton town centre, on a monday evening, at the times stated below.

Jo Coles , Jane Adams and new addition to HDCS, Gordon Dyer, are trainers.
 

6:45 or 7.15 pm Puppy, socialising and basic training begins from 12 weeks, (after vaccination course,) and covers all areas of training and advice is given on general care for dogs. Older friendly dogs, which have had no previous training, are also welcome in this class.

7:45 pm Older Puppy, for dogs which can sit, heel, down and recall with reasonable control. Stays and waits are introduced into this class.

8:30 pm Beginners, for dogs which can do all of above under control, and can also stay/wait off leads.

9:15 pm Advanced, for dogs competent in all of above, also work on retrieves, send a ways, distance control, and test recalls.



HDCS only uses reward methods of training, using treats, toys and praise. We regularly have in - house tests for handlers wishing to do so, as well as the Kennel Club Good Citizen awards, Puppy,Bronze, Silver and Gold.
