Sarah Banton - Club Member

Sarah competes at elementary level with collie x Charlie, he's very laid back!
He has had several places in shows now, and his speed has really picked up!
Sarah is a fosterer for ARC, a local rescue, and has recently aquired Jess, an Irish rescue

Hello, my name is Charlie.  I’ve got a little Sister called Jess, and together we own a couple of humans called Sarah and Nick!  We’ve also got a few other friends Tommy the cat, and a few Chickee-ladies, who I love to watch ! I was originally what they called a “welsh poundie”.  One day the people at the pound told me that “my time was up”.  I wasn’t sure what this meant, but it was obviously very good, as on that day I managed to find my new humans!  I was very poorly to begin with, and very very skinny, but with the help of my humans I soon felt much better.

I soon started to teach my humans a few basic commands and before long, I had them wrapped round my little finger!!  About 18 months ago, we all decided we’d move from the big smoke of Cardiff, to sunny Devon.  Now down in Devon, me and my human Sarah have started to do this funny thing called agility.  It’s quite good fun really -I’ll do whatever it takes to persuade my human to give me some more yummy treats!  Having said that, I’d much much rather chase rabbits or chickens or deer or pheasants or……!  Now if I could chase a rabbit around those jumps, that would be a different matter!!!

A little while ago my humans went off for a weekend to a place called “Ireland”.  When they came back, they had a new little friend for me.  I’ve had quite a few little friends that I’ve “fostered” in my time, but I’d have to admit that little Jess (as I’ve called her) is probably my favourite (I can boss her around!).  She was very timid when she first met me, and very protective of her poorly broken leg (she tells me it was very very poorly and was sticking out through her skin- uhhhg!)
Like me, she was without a home, so I let her share my bed and come and join in with my humans.  Over the months I’ve shown her the ropes, and she’s really started to come out of herself- now all she seems to want to do is hang off my ears and sit on my head!  Not very helpful when I’m trying to catch some rest!  I wasn’t sure at first if she’d be up for my agility games- I thought she might just keep me company at home, but now I’m not so sure- I might even have some serious competition developing-she seems more into this agility lark than chasing chickens - can’t have that now can I?!!!

Anyway, better go now, got some more zzz’s to catch (or is that rabbits in my sleep!)

Hope to see you all soon,

Mr Charlie - mutley – dog - McFarley!
